Easter and that favourite holiday time of year and where Mountain biking all started. The Red Kite Bash Easter is back.
The first Red Kite Bash events starting way back in the 1980′s by Green-Events. Then a yearly series of Red Kite Bash events from Green-Events covered the year. But as numbers of MTB events grew in other areas, so attendance numbers decreased. This left the August Red Kite Bash event we have today. Last year we restarted the Red Kite Easter Event to full a void in our event calendar.
The Red Kite Easter Bash is set in the Crychan Forest. This forestry commission property has a myriad of natural and man-made forest trails for you to ride.
This event is a non competitive off road Mountain Bike event set in the Crychan Forest half way between Llandovery and Llanwrtyd Wells. The Event is run in association with Green-Events. www.green-events.co.uk and The Crychan Forest Association www.crychanforest.org.uk. Any Profits from the event will go to help these 2 volunteer Organisations to continue promoting Tourism in Mid Wales through outdoor sporting events and the maintenance of forest and countryside trails used for these events.
Steep uphills, to test your resolve and determination. Long sweeping down hills, to whizz along with easy gradients. Steep bed rock paths that descend and wind through forest covered hillsides to idyllic stream settings, if only you had time to stop. The trees, often give way to open views, far reaching to the Eypnt and the distant mountains of Mid Wales.
The Crychan forest contains a wide range of routes for our first event of the year. Just right, for that first big ride. Some steep stuff every now and again, to mix it up and keep you on your toes. Various route lengths have been set. So you can make the route as long, short or as hard as you please.
Once registered you may start the event form 9am. The start will remain open till approximately 10am. The course is fully marked, event Marshall’s will be on hand at tricky spots to point your way. There will be feed stations around the course, these will act as checkpoints to registrar your progress. Burgers, beer and more natural nourishment will also be available at these checkpoints. Medical cover will cover the event for your first aid needs if required.
We have a selection of routes Short, Medium and long 43km. Make them even longer, Why not loop around again and do the shorter route. Make no mistake,
Now you know where your going the turns and bumps are more fun the second time round. The Marshalls will at approx 2pm close the second half of the long course and the event participants will need to return to the start finish to check in before 5pm.
Oh what fun you will have. Some of the best riding in this part of the country.
