Carreg Cennen Castle

aug-2011-289Carreg Cennen Castle, Sits, No balances precariously  upon the hilltop beside a massive cliff plummeting straight down to the stream below.  This Late 12 century castle sitting astride its hilltop pedestal dominating the landscape for miles around. The Castle is part of Cadw, More information on opening times are available from the Cadw website.

aug-2011-312The Castle is well worth a visit. The views from the castle ramparts are far reaching out over Carmarthenshire.  Peeping through the castles arrow slits gives a whole new view depending on which side you are on.  The Castle has a cavern beneath for you to explore. Very dark down there so take a torch with you. But fear not if you forget you can hire one from the shop on site.  They do great food from the cafe there. Sitting in the larger refurbished barn its such a great place to have lunch.

The Castle is sign posted from Llandelio, and can be found on top of the hill over looking the settlement of Trapp.  There is a large car park on the site.
