11th May we have a treat for you, A train ride to the start of your walk on the Heart of Wales Lines recently refurbished “Sugar Loaf Halt”. The Halt has been about for many years but hasn’t really been used much recently.
So in Conjunction with the Heart Of Wales Line Development Forum Green-Events and Green Dragon Activities have created a couple of walks from the Sugar Loaf Halt back to town. The 2 routes vary in length and in the total heights gained. The routes cover a variety of terrains and are suitable for all at your own pace.
Guided walks from the Sugar Loaf Halt to Llanwrtyd Wells, starting 11:30am (or as soon as both trains have arrived)
Long Route (8.5 miles) Approx. time 3½ hours. Bring a packed lunch or phone 01591 610236 to arrange for one to be provided. (2 days notice required) Ascent 1540 ft Descent 1720 ft
Short Route (4.5 miles) Approx. time 2 hours. Arrive in town in time for a bar snack lunch at the Neuadd Arms Hotel. Ascent 700 ft Descent 880 ft
12th May We have for you our Nordic walking half marathon. This Half Marathon distance trail loops out of town and follows Cwm Cerdin into the Irfon forest and returns down the the Irfon Valley beside the river. While the last 3 miles on the road, the amazing tree lined hillsides that tower over you and the picturesque Irfon River make up for the Tarmac surface.
You will need a packed lunch for this walk, or your can phone 01591 610236 to arrange for one to be provided(2 days notice required). We are providing just the one route on the 12th, and its open to Nordic and traditional walkers, If you fancy running thats up to you. Suitable for all abilities at their own pace.
